SONAX Detailing Academy
SONAX Detailing Academy is a professional detailing class organized by SONAX GmbH, headquartered in Germany. Sonax GmbH is an international manufacturer of car care products for the end-users and professionals. Sonax GmbH is an OEM and approved supplier for major car brands including Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Toyota, Kia etc.

SONAX Detailing Academy is the only internationally approved and recognised detailing course available in Singapore. It is conducted by Mr Davin Neo, an approved International Master Trainer and Detailer certified by SONAX GmbH. He is also an IDA (International Detailing Association) certified detailer and skills validated detailer. Currently, he is a board member of the IDA South East Asia Chapter. Since the start of SONAX Detailing Academy in 2018, we have conducted more than 30 classes and trained more than 150 detailers till date. At the end of the class, each participant will be awarded with a SONAX Certificate which is formally issued and approved by SONAX GmbH.
Course Info
We are now working with SkillsFuture SG and NTUC, so you may now use your SkillsFuture Credits and claim a grant from NTUC's Union Training Assistance Program (UTAP) to offset the course fees. Please refer to the guides below on how to do so.

Course Outline
Engine Bay Detailing
How to properly prepare, protect important components, wash and condition engine bay and rejuvenate the old engine bay components.
Exterior Decontamination
How to clean wheels properly, perform a pre-wash, chemical decontamination and 2-bucket car wash.

Proper usage and selection of chemicals would be taught and is key to this process.
Exterior Preparation
Proper Exterior Preparation would be taught. Before the Paint Correction Process, there would still be contaminants within the paint which require a different approach to remove. Different types and methods of claying would be introduced.
Interior Detailing
How to clean leather with a leather cleaner and a leather brush, as well as other components with a soft detailing brush. After cleaning, we'll be teaching how to condition the interior as well.
Paint Correction & Polish and Wax
Paint thickness, types of defects, types of polishing pads and compounds will be shared. Proper Paint Correction technique will be taught using the Rupes LHR15 Mk3, internationally recognised as the polisher most professionals use.

How to perform a 1 and 2 Stage All in One Polishing process and what to expect.
Glass Polishing
How to polish glass and remove contaminants and water etching.
Ceramic Coating Installation
Facts and myths of ceramic coating will be shared. How to properly install a ceramic coating and how to maintain and care for a ceramic coating.​

Graduation
Upon Completion of the course and successfully learning all of the skills we taught above, receive an internationally recognised certificate issued by SONAX GmbH.​
​
We will also be providing you tips and advice in terms of starting your own Detailing Shop or Mobile Service!
​

FAQs
Q1) Am I allowed to park in the premises?
Unfortunately, no parking will be allowed on the premises at all. Alternative parking spots will be made known in the group chat.

Q2) What will I need to bring to the course?
The course will cover all of the equipment, products and chemicals involved. Each participant will have their own individual set of machines to practice. Water, refreshments and lunch will be provided as well. Just bring yourself and an open mind!
​
Q3) Will I have a chance to practice on an actual car?
Our course will be providing 2 cars for the entire cohort to practice on. The course itself is 90% Practical and only 10% Theory. Be prepared to be very hands-on. Our trainers will be doing a demo on a small portion of the car, afterwhich we will allow our students to work on the car with our supervision.

Q4) Is there a smoking area in the building?
There will be no smoking within the premises at all. If you wish to smoke, feel free to step out of the building to take a break. Please do not throw your ciggarette butts on the ground!

Q5) If I wish to refresh myself on the curriculum and the proper procedures after the course, who do I contact?
Don't worry! We will be creating a group chat for each cohort before the start of the course just for administrative purposes. The chat will be kept open indefinitely, feel free to just drop us a message and we will answer your questions.
